Falkville Awarded Rebuild Alabama Act Grant

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has announced that the Town of Falkville has been awarded a Rebuild Alabama Act (RAA) grant for much needed road repairs.

The project will widen and resurface .53 miles of Culver Road from Buster Road to Big Rig Enterprises.

The RAA grant, which was prepared and submitted by the North Central Alabama Regional Council of Governments (NARCOG) Regional Planning Agency, awarded Falkville $250,000 for a $404,858 total project. The town will provide $154,858 in matching funds.

The funding for this project is made available through the state’s Annual Grant Program — a program created through the Rebuild Alabama Act, which was signed into law in 2019. The Rebuild Alabama Act requires the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to establish an annual program setting aside $10 million of the state’s gas tax revenue for local projects.

This initial round of announcements by the Governor resulted in 21 projects in Alabama receiving state funding.
